The Adventure.

On our way to Kanpur we had some real adventure in Delhi.
All the while we were thinking about the movie "Ek Chalis ki last local".

We left airport at 8:30PM to board a train. The departure time was 11:50 PM. Lot of time in hand we felt relaxed and thought of having a bite
at CP. En route to railway station from airport our cab got hit by a police gypsy from rear.
Police wale ne mari to 2 ghante ka panga.. finally things got sorted out after about 90 mins.
The million $$ question, why didn't we simply walked out of that place for railway station???
Our baggage was in the boot (of esteem) and because of the impact the lock of the boot got stuck.
In short we could not get our stuff. Tried pulling down the rear seat, but to add to the adventure the cab was CNG. So there was a big big cylinder in the boot.
No way we could pull out stuff from rear seat.

It was 10-10:15 by the time the police, phone calls to SP, FIR, negotiations, compromise, etc got through.
Now we started hunting for a mechanic who could break the lock.
10:30 in the night. Delhi. Dhanteras, everything is falling in place for missing the train.
We went to some place near Bangla saheb to get the boot open. 20 Min's wasted.
Our smart driver thought that something could be done at the "taxi stand" of Vasant vihar" (ppl from Delhi would have a better direction sense).
Time ticking.
Taxi stand.. not a person who can help.

We saw a "chabbi" wale ka number. the Driver miya thought that breaking the lock would help.
called up the chabhi wale bhaiya and he stays some place in Lodhi road - jor ganj something near the kharbara masjid.
Awesome.
Ek bechari larki (mekhla ) jisko train se jyada apne kapro ki tension ho rahi hai, aadhi raat ko agreed to go to some shaddy dark lanes of that area.
When we finally reached the "Masjid" it was already 11:05.
There were around 20 ppl who were waiting there under 1 street lamp. This was the only street lamp in that 200 mtr lane.
Boss.. PHATT GAYI.
All this while my dad was telling me that cab guys in Delhi work with cops and take the passengers to some shaddy place and rob them.
Wasn't everything just falling in place???? You bet YES.

to our relief and hard work of some 5 men (hatte katte), they were able to break the lock and untangle the hook holding the boot together.
11:20, the boot finally got open and we rushed to station saying thank to them and of course GOD.
the moment we came out of that lane.. the cabbie stopped.
What now boss???? "sahab dikki ko bandh du, nahi to khar khar karegi".
come on...
11:45 we finally made it to station.

All our arman of eating Chole bhature and Rajma chawal at CP were washed away.

One thing that I missed above, the moment police gypsy hit us, I called a friend, who was in Noida at that time (whom we were supposed to meet at CP).
We were finally able to meet him at station but his route map was something like this Noida, CP, Gurudwara, Vasant Vihar, Lodhi road, station.
in this entire stretch we were never able to meet him as by the time he would reach at one place, we would have left to the next destination.

Sitting in train me and mekhla had a really good laugh..

New York - The movie

It was only because that we had not been to a multiplex for almost two months that we went to see a movie.

I would say it’s not a must see one's, but okay types.Kat seems to have put on a bit in the first half (sigh.... she still looks pretty anyway) and John looks hunk as usual (I'm straight boss...) :)

Thankfully there are not many songs and in the movie. It's a predictable though. I was almost bugging her with possible upcoming twists / turns in the movie.

No - there are not many twist and turns, and as I said, it's a bit predictable. The story revolves around 9/11 incident (the effect mostly).

There are some scenes from the movie which look very real and have been picturized damm neatly.Nitin mukesh's Jr. has acted a bit better in this movie.

Won't tell any part of the story here (any more )

:)

It's okay to go and watch if you are really free and have no better thing to do.

The trailer shown in the beginning was of Kambakht Ishq (KI), it's appealing. Akshay has his charm as usual. This movie is a definitive go for us.

Coming back to New York, I would rate it as 2.5/5

Lido Adlabs, I would rate 1.5 / 5 Waiting queue for parking and exiting after the movie is a real pain. Plus food court is closed boss. The only good thing that happened to that mall was Noodle bar, that’s history now.

All in all, it’s not the best thing to do on a Friday night to visit Lido mall and watch the movie - New York.

The Pregnancy Fever

When one tends to notice things around, it seems to be very common.
For instance???
When we were thinking about purchasing a car, our eyes got stuck on i10. Whenever on road, we used to keep looking at i10’s. So many i10’s on road man. Red, black, cream, grey, silver…. They are on road in every color and not just few, lots of them.

When we were getting married (or engaged), we keep listening to stuff like…
“you know so and so is engaged”, “so and so is getting married”.

The latest we keep hearing about is pregnancy. It’s not that we are planning for one presently.. but man… there are ton’s of couples getting pregnant around us.
At our wedding, there were at least 4 pregnant ladies  (first cousins).

And in last one week, we got this amazing news that 4 of our friends are pregnant.
As my wifey call’s it, this is nothing but The Pregnancy Fever :)

Vacation

It so often happens that vacation turn out to be more tiring. A weekend, a week or for that matter a whole 15 days at times seems to be less and at end of it, you’re tired.

Since November all vacations / travels have turned out to be extremely enjoyable, superb and fantastic. The other common thing in all these vacations – end of it, we end up being super drained out.

1st vacation was our (me and wifey) honeymoon. Fifteen days just flew by.
A Cruise from Singapore, couple of days on Singapore land and Bali, all were amazing. Every place had something exciting about it. Every place had an exclusive variety of food.
The cruise and Singapore was super tiring. Bali was a total different game though. Bali is amongst one of the most amazing places in SE Asia. I would like to contradict my first statement. Bali was super relaxing (some amazing SPA’s and ocean not more than 15 steps away from room, what else you want).

2nd trip – Amchi Mumbai. 3 days in Mumbai and we slept for not more than 4 hrs a night (who sleeps in a city like Mumbai???).

We just kept our bags packed. In 3 months made trips to Coorg, Kanpur, Delhi, Kota and Ooty (and still planning for more).

Phew!!

It so happens that on a vacation when you see so much to do, so many places to explore, so many different kind of ppl to meet – who can sit in a room/resort?

Exploring stuff / places adds true essence to your Vacation.

Spending a full working week with my "In-Laws" would be so much fun, I'd never imagined.
MIL - excellent cook. Can't have enough of whatever she cooks.
FIL - high spirited enthu person. Game for most things and a deep thinker.
BIL - Nobody can work like him. Work (eat) work (fun) work (sleep) work (baby sitting) work (movies) work (etc) :)
SIL - very sweet. Adventourous and changing nappies always. A talented chef too. specialises in Burmese and Italian food.
Nephew - Ahh.... Sweet, lil, cute, chubby, naughty, ku-chi-ku darling.
Wifey - she is not in-laws, she is on both sides :)

We had a nice short time in Ooty (rather 30 km beyond Ooty, main city is not worth a stay).

For a foodie like me, MIL and SIL were my newly found best friends ;)

Velocity of Money

Read this article / forward.
Need to appreciate it.

It is August. In a small town on the South Coast of France, the holiday season is in full swing, but it is raining so there is not too much business happening. Everyone is heavily in debt.

Luckily, a rich Russian tourist arrives in the foyer of the small local hotel. He asks for a room and puts a Euro100 note on the reception counter, takes a key and goes to inspect the room located up the stairs on the third floor.

The hotel owner takes the banknote in hurry and rushes to his meat supplier to whom he owes E100.

The butcher takes the money and races to his supplier to pay his debt.

The wholesaler rushes to the farmer to pay E100 for pigs he purchased some time ago.

The farmer triumphantly gives the E100 note to a local hair dresser who provided him his services on credit.

The hair dresser goes quickly to the hotel, as he owed the hotel for his room use a month back.

At that moment, the rich Russian is coming down to reception and informs the hotel owner that the proposed room is unsatisfactory and takes his E100 back and departs.

There was no profit or income. There was NO real economic activity. But everyone no longer has any debt and the small town people look optimistically towards their future.

COULD THIS BE THE SOLUTION TO THE Global Financial Crisis? Just sheer velocity of money?

The 6th Sense.

Extra-sensory perception is nothing but the 6th Sense.
Some ppl are blessed with this perception.

There is a particular category of ppl (in Bangalore particularly)
who possess this acumen.

This category is very often called "Bai" / "Amma" / "Maid".
:)

They possess a supernatural power to predict / perceive when the load factor for daily chores is about to get high.

We have guest visiting us almost every second weekend. These maids somehow find an excuse to take a couple of days / week off.

My in-laws and an infant (cute/sweet/charming) nephew have given us company for this week. Some how (once again - Somehow) our cook got the vibes and she took the week off.
We made it a point that we will not mention / talk in front of her. But then too..

Our maid who does daily morning cleaning has a daughter who is supposed to get engaged.
Gone for two days.
Wow..

I truly believe.. this prodigious category of ppl should be recruited by the defense / military and possibly all intelligence divisions to foresee crime (pun intended).
:)

So what if it's Friday

There are days / times when you get up in morning with a heavy head after just about 4 hours of night sleep (Working late hours). Don't feel like doing anything.. talking to anyone.. don't feel like working.

But it's Friday yar.. SO what?
If I have a foul mood, then how does it matter it's Friday or Monday or Tue?
Why do ppl keep saying.. It's okay boss, its Friday chill, relax.

Friday doesn't allow me to relax when I have P0 (highest priority) work to finish with a bad bad mood.
That's when I say - So bloody what if it's Friday.

i10 on its way..

Woppie..

After test driving atleast a dozen cars. Rejecting half a dozen within first 5 mins..

Rejecting rest after couple of days, we booked an i10 today.

Getting the delivery soon..

The most interesting event of the day.

We told the sales person in the showroom that we are interested in booking two i10's today (one for me and one for sis).

The words had just come out and there was tea + water in front of us.

The head of sales person joined us (for tea.. ha ha ha).

All of sudden there is a finance guy standing there.

We started negotiating on the price.. The good thing was uniformity in information.

Everyone of them (including the finance guy.. don’t know why is he talking ) said that there cannot

be any concession on the Ex-showroom price.

I folded my sleeves and came down to accessories.

Greedy me started with 2 central remote locking, 2 cig lighters, set of seat cover and sun films (for each car).

It is unbelievable that after one and a half hour, they agreed to it.

We had filled forms for one of the i10's and I was about to start, I get a call from my friend.

After a much elaborated discussion with him and couple of calls to my dad, I decided to post pone

grand event of purchasing two cars. We settled for one (for now).

Now.. back to the heated environment in the showroom, atleast 14 eyes were on me. (I count 4 eyes for ppl who wear glasses) :D

I some how had to hide/run/squeal away from the situation.. I just announced very boldly -

"My dad has asked me to postpone the purchase of second car".

That’s it. Cups removed, glass of water evaporated, everybody got busy with their work.

Just one sales person standing with us doing all the formalities....

No doubt money gets great attention.. It’s okay.. attention or no attention.. we have an i10 on our way :)

Disconnected

At times it’s good to be disconnected from gadgets, cell phones, emails, blogs, traffic, almost everything.

The world seems totally different (not necessarily quiet and peaceful though).

It was during the first week of May that felt totally in a different world.

A trip to my hometown. The sizzling heat (45 degrees) was enough to bake an egg in SUN.

Without switching on my Laptop, I survived for a whole week. My God!! Now I think I have been missing it.

A 5 hr train journey (before taking a flight back to Bangalore) made me wonder the numerous “Disconnection".

1. Disconnected - from the hyped "IT" world

2. Disconnected - from the Bangalore's traffic

3. Disconnected - from the fake socializing smiles

Even though I don't talk much (gossip) with folks back in hometown, I always feel connected.

I don't feel the need of chatting, talking over phone, etc to be connected. It’s the understanding that matters and makes the connection.

A week off from office made me feel Disconnected, even from my colleagues.

Strange??? Yes, for the first time in last 3 years, it did.

When I joined back, I felt a void space within my team. I felt disconnected from work.

WHY????? No clue.

Catching up with work, emails, office stuff is giving me the vibes back.

2 days.. I have tried to bridge the so called gap (void space as I feel). Don't know how long will it take to hit back.

Why do ppl need to behave like smart assess?

It’s really sad for a foodie like me to eat lunch silently. Staring at faces / other tables.

It’s so boring.
